The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills has actively sought to enrich the
lives of girls and boys that other youth agencies fail to reach. Boys &
Girls Club is dedicated to ensuring that our community's disadvantaged youngsters
have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives
and shape their futures as productive citizens.
Since 1999, we have provided children with a positive place to go, results-oriented
programming and a professional staff to guide them.
Last year, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills served more than 700 young
people through its Clubs, summer sites and outreach programs.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills obtains funding for its programs through
donations from civic organizations, individuals, Corporations, federal, state
and local grants, the United way, membership fees and various fundraising activities.
The cost of providing services to a member for a year is $500, but in order to
serve effectively those who need us most, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills
asks families to pay annual membership dues of only $5 per child and no child
is turned away due to inability to pay.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills began serving young people in two
locations, the Southern Pines Unit, and the Richmond County (Rockingham) Unit
in 1999. The Clubs have now grown to more than 700 members, an average of more
than 150 young people daily during the school year and over 220 average daily
during the Summer Camp program. Plans are in process to open a Club in Northern
Moore County to better serve the youth in that area.
