Overview

The Mission:
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills is to inspire, enable and educate young people from all backgrounds and circumstances to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

The Boys & Girls Clubs programs focus on the unique needs of the boys and girls in the communities served. Providing a safe place where young people can grow socially, scholastically and athletically, the Boys and Girls Clubs provide the positive influence needed by so many young people. Caring, trained youth development professionals provide guidance in helping boys and girls to:

  • Discover their needs

  • Pursue new interests

  • Nurture their talents

  • Broaden their viewpoints

  • Dissolve their prejudices

  • Resolve their conflicts

  • Set goals

  • Understand themselves

  • And HAVE FUN!
  Background

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys that other youth agencies fail to reach.  Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to ensuring that our community's disadvantaged youngsters have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures as productive citizens.

Since 1999, we have provided children with a positive place to go, results-oriented programming and a professional staff to guide them.

Last year, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills served more than 700 young people through its Clubs, summer sites and outreach programs.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills obtains funding for its programs through donations from civic organizations, individuals, Corporations, federal, state and local grants, the United way, membership fees and various fundraising activities. The cost of providing services to a member for a year is $500, but in order to serve effectively those who need us most, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills asks families to pay annual membership dues of only $5 per child and no child is turned away due to inability to pay.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sandhills began serving young people in two locations, the Southern Pines Unit, and the Richmond County (Rockingham) Unit in 1999. The Clubs have now grown to more than 700 members, an average of more than 150 young people daily during the school year and over 220 average daily during the Summer Camp program. Plans are in process to open a Club in Northern Moore County to better serve the youth in that area.
